EQuIS Data Source for PowerBI.com


Create EQuIS Data Source in app.powerbi.com


After an EQuIS power user has been added as a gateway administrator, s/he may add an EQuIS data source as follows:

Login to https://app.powerbi.com.

Click the settings icon (top-right corner) and choose Manage gateways.

Find the gateway machine in the GATEWAY CLUSTERS list and select it.

Click the ADD DATA SOURCE button/link at the top of the list.

Enter a data source name (e.g., johnsmith-mysite-equisonline-com).

In the Data Source Type list, choose EQuIS.

Enter the Enterprise Site URL (e.g., https://mysite.equisonline.com).

Choose the desired authentication method:

Key – Enter your EQuIS API token. Users assigned to the REST API role can generate a token in the User Profile Editor in EQuIS Enterprise.

Basic – Enter your EQuIS username and password.

OAuth2 – Click the Edit Credentials link and authenticate via Azure Active Directory.

Click the Add button to add the data source.

Verify that the Connection Successful message appears at the top of the data source settings.

If desired, Click the Users tab and share the dataset with other users.



Connect a Published Dataset to the EQuIS Data Source


After creating the EQuIS data source in app.powerbi.com, users may connect published datasets to that data source as follows:

Login to https://app.powerbi.com.

Find the workspace containing the published dataset.

In the list of workspace contents, find the published dataset.

Hover your mouse over that dataset and click the More Options button (three vertical dots).

On the More Options context menu, choose Settings.

Expand the Gateway connection section.

Switch Use a data gateway to "on" (the gateway should show up with a list of data sources).

Choose the EQuIS data source (e.g., johnsmith-mysite-equisonline-com) from the Maps to list.

Click the Apply button.


The dataset is now connected to your EQuIS data source and may be refreshed (either manually or via scheduled refresh).
